Day 15 Constanta

Constanta, Burgas, Romania
We decide to do one of the ship's tours to the Danube Delta today. We're not too crazy about the tours offered in this port, but we have a lot of onboard credit we need to use up. It's around a 2 hour ride by coach, which turns out to be more interesting than the Delta itself. Our guide, Vasily, is very open and candid as he tells us about life in Romania. We drive thru small towns and open farmland, and even though we can feel his love for his country, we get the sense that he is very envious of the privileged life we live in Western countries.
After a nice drive, we arrive at the river and board our boat . I'll just say our cruise thru the Delta is relaxing. There are over 200 species of birds to see here but, as you may well know, those little critters can be pretty evasive sometimes. We do see a couple of white swans from a distance and a few birds in the trees, but it's not exactly what we've heard it could be. A seafood lunch is included, but because of my dislike of fish, I was lucky enough to get a cold cut platter instead. Rox braves it; when they set down her lunch of pickled herring, pike and salmon roe, I had to move a few tables over. I swear she was sweating seafood from her pores (sorry seafood lovers!) I could barely take the 2hr return trip - I love her anyway!
Tomorrow is an "at sea" day and then our next stop is Batumi, Georgia.
