We, as well as many others, arrived in Forest City @ 8am to pick up our Winnebago. Before jumping into our new home for the next 11 days, we decided to take a tour of the factory to see how these things are made. The tour was interesting and our guide was very informative. We learned that out of the approx. 4000 people that live in Forest City, 2800 work at the factory. Well, it time to get our short "walk through" of the motorhome, and then we'll be ready to hit the road.
The first thing I notice is that this huge thing says "Minnie Winnie" all over it
... whaattt? You have to be pretty secure about your manhood to advertise "Minnie Winnie" while driving half way across the nation. Of all the names, that's what they came up with? How about "Maxi Winnie" to start, or maybe "30 foot long Winnie", or how about "Wow...What a Winnie"? Anything but Minnie Winnie! Oh well, it's only 11 whole days.
First stop was the nearest Wal-Mart to buy some camping items needed when RVing, such as toilet paper and treatment for the holding tanks. We never knew that they made toilet paper as thin as crepe paper... this could be challenging. And they have the most interesting people at Wal-Mart; now I was one of them! Next stop is Costco to stock up on food. The Minnie Winnie is so big and has to be parked so far away, we debate whether to call Uber to get back to the entrance. I put my hiking shoes on and decide to hike in. $327 later, we were ready to roll.
Before we know it we are on our way to our first stop - Lake Vermilion, South Dakota
. What a beautiful lake and campground! There is hardly anyone here but us, which is kind of neat when it is light, but a little daunting when it gets pitch dark and the coyotes start howling. So after stocking up the rig, adding the proper treatment to the holding tanks, filling the 40 gallon water tank, putting away our clothes, hooking up the electrical and leveling the RV, we are ready to cook dinner in a kitchen the size of most closets. I know a lot of you by now are saying, "Damn, we could've been doing that!"
After dinner we play a little cards, and then it's off to bed at 9pm, because we've just about covered everything there is to do in the dark at Lake Vermilion. Our next stop is Badlands, South Dakota. Stay tuned

Love the alternate names for your travel mode. The travel in the western states has been our favourite.
