Restart Day 3

Kansas City, Kansas, United States
The sisters prepared a lovely breakfast for us as they always do, and we arrived a little early at Restart so we took a little walk around the area since it was such a nice day. Then we headed inside and started with organizing the donations room, before it got too hot. After about an hour we went downstairs to serve and eat lunch. I ate with a woman named Robin who absolutely loves politics. She says that's her hobby. Pretty cool if you ask me, no matter what side you choose. It's vital to be an informed citizen. We chatted for the rest of lunch about politics and even for a while after they closed the doors. She is a very passionate woman and it's cool to see that in this time of hardship she educates herself and tries to find things that need to change to help everyone in her beloved country. Good ol merica. After that we helped make dinner which was steak and potato salad. We finished up with the donation rooms and headed out a little early, so we talked to Joe for a bit outside by his car, and I ran into Israel too, which was nice because I missed him at lunch. He said he's getting closer on the apartment search and he got an appointment with the dentist. He was still carrying around his CD, which looked more beat up today. I hope he has another copy. Then we headed out to Oklahoma Joe's... I mean Joe's Kansas City. We went to the original gas station one with to Marquette brother alums. They were super nice and friendly and it was fun to talk to them. We ordered a variety of things so we got to sample everyone's. I think they liked it, I know I did. Then we headed out to a jazz club, but we were a little ahead of schedule, so we went to the Nelson and walked the labyrinth. We had a great jam sesh on our way there. Mike, one of the brothers who works for the mayor, could be a tour guide for the museum. He was telling us all about each piece, even the artist... I was pretty impressed. We had a good time going through the glass maze, there was a girl playing flute in the middle so that was pretty neat. And we enjoyed taking pictures with the shuttlecocks, it's funny to watch them be tourists haha. Then we headed out to the Jazz club to see the 12th Street Jumpers on Broadway just south of downtown. It was really cool, they were playing for a radio show, so we were the audience. They had a Brazilian jazz guitarist as a special guest, he was really good. When the show ended, we decided we needed to go, but once we got in the car we decided we wanted to check out 12th Street and Vine, since it's a line in our favorite Kansas City song. So we searched all over, and once we found it, we hopped out and to our surprise there was a little commemoration to the song, so we danced and sang and took pictures, till a man rolled up and said that we should get a move on because it's a rough part of town. We're used to being in rough parts of town, but since a local said it we decided we'd hit the road asap. So we headed on back to the house where we had reflection and went to bed, but not without wish Tiffany a happy birthday at midnight :)
