Day 29 Saturday in Bath and 9 Holes of Golf

Bath, England, United Kingdom
We woke to another cool overcast day, but it was expected to improve later in the day. After breakfast we all went for a short walk with our hosts to see the village and surrounds of Combe Down.  Combe Down is a village suburb of Bath about on its south eastern boarder and 2.5km from the city center. It sits above the historic limestone mines, famous for providing 'Bath Stone' for which Bath is renown, and also Buckingham Palace.

We walked along some local 'drungs' and stopped by the local sweet store where the girls were treated with a mixed bag by Hugh.

After lunch, the boys and girls split up. Hugh and I drove into Bath - essentially to buy some chinos from M&S for Allan to wear on the golf course. Got a couple of great shots of Pulteny Bridge and Parade Gardens en route.

We then headed to Hugh's golf club at Cumberwell Park and played the 'yellow'  nine hole course. There was a wedding function so we didn't stay for a beer in the nineteenth.

The Susan, Karen, Kate and the girls walked into Bath; this is two km walk down Prior Park Rd passing Prior Park College and historic landscape gardens. They spent the afternoon browsing shops and visiting some sights, including The Circus and Royal Crescent. Jim joined them, having traveled across from London by train and they all walked back up the hill to Combe Down.

We had a great family meal at home with the Lauders.
