Day 30 Pub Lunch at Avebury

Avebury, England, United Kingdom
Sunday and Allan's birthday. The Lauders had hired a car for the day; although Jim returned to London, we still needed two cars to carry both families on the planned outing to visit Avebury Henge in Wiltshire for the day.

The drive did not take long and we passed by a spectacular earth mound, Silbury Hill as we neared Avebury. Inconceivable that this was man made without machinery - but then so was the great wall of China.

As it was not a public holiday or height of tourist season, we easily found a table at a quaint thatched roof pub, the Red Lion, just next to Avebury Henge. After a burger and pint we were ready to walk around the henge and visit the Alexander Keiller museum.

On our return drive to Combe Down we passed through some beautiful somerset countryside.
