The bus took around three hours to Townsville then we had to catch a ferry over to Magnetic Island which only took about 20 minutes due to the super charged massive ferry that took us over! Then we caught the local bus to the YHA hostel we were staying at. After getting settled into our room we went for a dip in the pool  and chilled out for a while. We had been given some free $20 food and drink vouchers as part of the deal for our room so we used those to get a pizza each and a jug of strongbow. We had made a few friends from our room and from around the pool so we clubbed together and joined in on the pub quiz that night we named ourselves Let's get quizzical! We kicked ass and won a $30 bar tab which soon got drank. We had saved some pizza so we could have a munch on it later and as we were eating it this big furry grey thing tried to run off with the pizza box! We later found out that they were possums and that there were loads of them always trying to rob food and they are really hard to get rid of because they had no fear of humans. The hostel had a wildlife park attached to it where you could hold different animals such as a kolwarlas, crocodiles, snakes, lizards, and parrots as soon as Mel heard about that we had to do it. So that was the next morning taken care of. After that we hopped on the bus and went to a place called geffory bay were you could find wild rock wallabies, we had got some food for them from reception which they came and ate out of our hands. After they had scoffed all the food we sat on the rocks in the sun for a while and watched the sea. When we got back to the hostel they were feeding the lorries which are little colourful parrots that were everywhere round the hostel. As I we hadn't fed enough animals that day we grabbed a handful of bread and the little lorries would come at you from every direction and land on you. That night we had a BBQ and used the rest of our vouchers up on strongbow then hit the hay ready to travel to Airlie Beach the next day.
