Hot tub in the sand

Coromandel, Waikato, New Zealand
Today we wanted to get upto the Coromandel area but we didn't leave the park till gone 11.30am. We'd been told about a beach that has hot water just under the sand, and all you need to do is to dig a hole and you've got a hot pool. It took a few hours to get up there but it was a beautiful day again, and they call this winter? The last few days have been like an English summer! The beach was busy with loads of people who had the same idea as us, they all had shovels though. So we just nicked a pre dug one and stuck our feet in, big mistake! It was really hot! Then some women came over and said the water coming out of the ground was about 64oc and you had to mix it with sea water to cool it down a bit. I wish she'd told us that sooner. After cooling our feet off a little we headed back to the camper and went to Cathredral Cove for a walk, which led to a lovely pebble beach and the sunset was superb. I was too busy taking pictures of the sunset and lost track of time, we really needed fuel and by the time we got to a petrol station it was shut. Luckily we managed to get to the next town just in time to fill up! We were heading to a DOC site for the night which in true style was in the middle of no where and took loads of finding, especially in the dark. We were the only ones there again as well.
