Tavewa Island, Yasawa Islands, Fiji
The next day came and it was moving time again,
it was a Sunday and despite Ziggy's best efforts to get us to go to church we
got back on the Yasawa Flyer and headed up to the very top of the Yasawa
Islands Tavewa we were stopping a the Coral View Resort. The weather had turned
rather dull and it even started raining, luckily the rain reduced to a drizzle
for our trip over to the resort so we didn't get to wet. Everything in Fiji
happens in "Fiji time", because the people are so laid back, to the
point that it gets a little annoying. We noticed it more at Coral View than
anywhere, they just seemed to be very organised, for example our room wasn't
cleaned and ready for us meaning we had to wait outside in the rain while they
cleaned it. We could of understood if it was really early but we didn't arrive
till 2.30pm and check out is 9am. There was a few other
times it seemed like we just got past pillar to post but the resort its self
was really nice and the people were dead friendly so we over looked it. We had
two activity's for this resort a trip to the Sawailau caves and ether a
snorkelling trip to the Blue Lagoon or a 30 minute massage. The cave trip
departed at 9am and was a 35 minute boat ride to get to them. Once
there we met up with Arron and James who were staying at a different resort and
happened to be there at the same time, there was no Max he had stayed on the
beach because he is apparently scared of caves? There were some concrete steps
that lead down into the cave which has been flooded by sea water so we had to
swim into the cavern. When you looked under the water it was so deep you
couldn't see the bottom. The cave was quite spectacular but the best bit was
the under water swim through to a hidden closed roof cave. Mel wimped out of
the swim through, even though it was really short. Once inside the cave it was
pitch black apart from the guides torch. When everyone had made it through the
guide took us on a swimming tour through the cave system. This cave had a lot
more formations and had a couple of sink holes providing a beam of light from the
outside world. After making the swim back through to the main cave James, Arron
and I did a bit of rock climbing and cliff diving before getting back on the
boats and heading back to our resorts. For the afternoon we had a choice
between a massage or some snorkelling at the Blue Lagoon. We went for the
massage option even upgrading them to an hours full bodied massage, which was
well worth doing. The previous night we had been very antisocial and gone to our
room straight after dinner, but a couple we'd met at Koravo, Dameo and Kara,
arrived at our resort that afternoon. So that night we chatted to them and
shared our pictures and videos in exchange for some of Kara's films she had on
her hard drive. It was that time again when we had to move on, the time seems
to be going very fast and we only have a few days left in Fiji.
