Finally I caught something!

Nadi, Western, Fiji
Back on the ferry again only this time it was
back to the main land, our 12 day island hoping had come to an end now we had
two more night back in Nadi Bay hotel. The lads and I had said we wanted to go
on a fishing trip once we were back on the main land so I got one organised for
the next day. It was only $600 for six hours fishing split between five of us
bargain! We got picked up from outside our hotel, the first stop was the shop as
no fishing trip is complete without beer then it was to the beach where we
actually had to help them unload and float the boat. Once we eventually got
going the deck hand put out a couple of rods for some trolling, we didn't have
any luck there so we anchored up over a reef. Max was in with the first fish,
then Mel and James followed. It was only me and Aaron left to catch and we were
the ones who had been fishing before. Thinking I was in for another blank I
struck into something big and it snapped me off! Not giving up I tried again
and was rewarded with a nice Travelly and Trigger Fish. James just beat me with
a big Snapper but I was pleased to catch something and finally break the curse.
Aaron was the one who didn't catch his punishment was to dive off the top of
the boat but he promptly got out when the skipper said there were probably sharks
around. After a great day and feeling a little tipsy made worse by the fact we
all had sea legs we arrived back at the hotel to a heroes welcome. We'd brought
all the fish back for the staff, the chef even cooked us up the Travelly and
Snapper for our dinner and it was awesome! As it was our last night with the
boys it was agreed we would all get drunk, again, so they nipped off to get
everyone a bottle of wine each to start off the night. It ended up being 6am
when we came back because we went to a local club The Whitehouse, we were the
only white people in there but everyone was very friendly and kept feeding us
drinks all night which all contributed to how horrendous we felt the
next day. I stayed in bed all day and only got up when I really had to. Our
flight was leaving at 10pm that night, still feeling rough by the
time 7pm we said goodbye to the lads and got a taxi to the airport.
When we walked in we were met by the longest queue ever! Two hours later we got
to the check in desk only to be told our flight had been delayed until 7am
the next morning due to a technical problem and was still in Sydney! To be fair
they put us up in a hotel for the night with free food and transfers. It still
didn't change the fact we would be nine hours late for everything. We haven't
had much luck with Nadi airport. So a lot of messing about later and we were back at
the airport, at 4.30am queued for another two hours and then finally
got through. We saw the lads again checking in for their flight to Auckland and
they even beat us to the departure lounge! And that was the end of Fiji, it
only seems like yesterday when we arrived and it weird to think that two of
their island will go underwater in the next five years thanks to global
warming. We have really enjoyed Fiji and meeting the three lads has been a real
highlight not to mention the amazing beaches and water. Now we have our longest
flight yet 10 hours to LA America.
