Ahhh...sun is up and the view out our Garden room is probably better than the Ocean. The mountains are cloaked in clouds and everything is lush / green.   We go to the Marriott breakfast bar by the pool. $12 pancakes in a serve-yourself cafeteria that looks like a dog stand isn't what we expected. First morning in Maui needs something w/ more character.  We jump in the car after a quick Google for breakfast in Lahaina and arrive at Longhis. Oceanfront with character of home-spun diner. Breakfast smells good and the pastries, eggs, pancakes are very fresh and delicious.   The prices still strike us as steep...$12 for fresh fruit...$10 pancakes, etc...but they prepare anything off the menu . Lyn orders 1 scrambled egg + toast and they knock it down to $5.    We are satisfied and really charmed by Lahaina. Not at all what we expected.   More of a sleepy Cape Cod feel than commercialized beach town.    Back to the Marriott for some sun and surf.
