Lisboa, Lisboa, Portugal
Woke up a little late and went to the local Pastelaria on Seculo and bought some buns and pastry and then went to a Mini Mercado for some yogurt and cheese... Had a nice breakfast and the walked up Rua Seculo to the Parc Real Príncipe and then right onto Rua Real Príncipe to the Miradouro de Sao Pedro de Alcantara.......then down past Igreja Sao Rocque but Mass was on so we couldn't go in... So we ventured on down through Largo t'Coelho to Rua das Portas de Santo Antao and lots of stairs past touristy restaurants to the Rossoi train station...then further down to Rossio Square the across and up to the Sao Jorge Castle...huge crowds so we didn't go into the castle. We did explore the surrounding streets in Alfama though and lost the crowds....tiny streets with tiny balconies and wash hanging out on the balconies.....they have a tradition of communal laundries.....we found the look out and Miradouro then walked down hill to the bottom of Alfama and ate at a little Restaurant, Barracao de Alfama at Rua San Pedro#16 in a small inner courtyard ......we had Salt Cod and Cuttle Fish and then walked along the river to Commercio Square. Then up Rua Augusta and through Baixa ....along the way we found Santinis Gelato .....yummy but very crowded....then along Rua Garret and to a Supermercado a long way along Rua Real Príncipe and bought some groceries....and snacks...then home to watch a little TV.
