Amsterdam, Noord-Holland
We have had a very busy day yesterday. After a yummy breakfast of eggs and bread and breakfast cake, great coffee from a Sanseo machine we got organized and started exploring..we showed Calire the neighborhood and bought some more bread and Easter sweet bread for breakfast as well as shampoo as it's not provide by the host? Then we started to walk...through the Vondelpark which is lovely as the tulips are all out and there's are just budding.. Then we stopped at cafe Krom which is a old neighborhood place...very old, Art Deco inside...very nice people and shops nearby... it's on Utrechtstraat, Then along the Leidesplein, Leidestraat, through Centrum, the Nieumarkt, across the Ij River to a funky dockside bar across from the old Marine Barracks called Hanneke Boom where we stopped for another beer.. It's all wood with a huge beer garden and outside upper deck. Would be fun in warm weather.
We then walked through he Museumplein, through the Rijksmuseum, past the gardens and I Am Amsterdam sculpture, past the Van Gogh Museum and then slowly to Sama Sebo on PC Hooftstraat which is a very expensive shopping area. Had a wonderful Ristafel....yummy as always and on the way out we realized the 2 young couples behind us...the girls were from Sunshine Hills and the older one had been in Eriks class at Seaquam.
We the then walked home via Williamspark and Koningslaan to home. We walked 16.1 Kms
We chilled and had snack ices, nice Italian wine and watched the Hunt for the Wildepeople.

Today we woke up late and are about to have a nice Easter Breakfast with Champagne Sunrises and eggs. The weather is very springish....sunny, then rainy, then hail then windy and cold and then sunny again. We started waking along to Rembrandt Park and walked all through the park to Amsterdam West where we stopped at White Coffee, a vey Hipster coffee shop on Jan Evertsen Straat then across the street to the T's Tea Shop where we bought some Rooibos Chai and some Marsala Chai loose tea for 31€! We walked further until we reached the Foodhalle, a food and cinema and craft complex house in an old Tram Hospital near Kinkerstraat. A very busy food hall and cinema area. It started to rain again so we walked home along Overtoom which runs parallel to the Vondelpark. When we reached home of course the sun came out...we had a little rest as Claire had a blood blister on her baby toe so was quite uncomfortable.. Then we walked to Venus and Adonis, the Princengracht..... A 40 minute walk. We had steak and frite and nice red wine ...a very pleasant evening. Then an Uber home.... We hope the weather tomorrow is better!
