Bordeaux
We had another incredible breakfast at Manoir Ferme Cacharat with Valerie: this time yummy scrambled eggs, croissants and warm baguette, homemade jam and marmalade, yogurt and fruit and black current muffins....so yummy. We left around 09:30 and took a detour via the Suisse Norman area near Clecy and then east to Falaise to join the toll hwy to Falaise, then Le Mans, then Tours, Poitiers and finally along the A10 to Bourdeaux. The area around Clecy is lovely...foothills with old farms and jagged stone outcroppings. We had a huge thunderstorm pass overhead with hail for a few minutes but then we had sunshine as we traveled a very small country road across the Orne valley..would love to come back to explore more.
We stopped a couple of times at Hwy Service Station Rest stops....very clean and convenient. Unfortunately we hit rush hour in Bordeaux and the crazy French drivers were crazy for sure.
Finally found the BnB B'ordo at 6 Rue Cazenave and met the owner who is very friendly and explained where to park the car on the local street, where the tram leaves from to go to Central Bordeaux(3 stops), and gave us a map and a lot of great suggestions for restaurants and things to see..
We walked downtown which was only 25 mins, and found one of her suggestions for dinner...Melodie....very small but very friendly...we had a 3 course dinner and a bottle of Medoc for 70 €...I had Pumpkin soup, Grilled pork tenderloin in a grainy mustard sauce, sliced potatoes, puréed squash and a creme brûlée and an Expresso....we walked home and are now getting ready for bed..
Tomorrow is another day!!
