Slept in and are now about to leave for lunch/brunch with Claire. Met Claire and walked around her neighborhood where she showed us a wonderful bakery A very small place with crusty loaves of olive and nut bread, date and anise and a sourdough peasant loaf that they serve at La Shiek cafe/ bar.. Then we walked over the bridge to the Wyck area where Claire's friends Jill and Max live as well as Camilla. Lots of expensive little restaurants and boutiques in athe small streets. Found a couple of Restaurants to try perhaps on Tuesday with Inez and Klaas. One called Le Courage which is a 1 Michelin star but now has a 10 the anniversary celebration of 1/2 price dinners early in the week. We had lunch at a river side restaurant called Cafe Zuid....on the old Ceremic grounds. It was nice to sit in the sun and watch all the boats go by...it's still a busy river for barges and of course pleasure boats too.
Claire and I went shopping for new shoes for me because the Puma ones I bought at Tulalip are too narrow and are giving me blisters . We also shopped for some makeup for her....found a chap pair of shoes in H+ M for only 19 € so I hope they will do the trick until home. it was very busy in the shops so did not shop too long...instead went for a glass of wine at the "In Den Vogel Struys" on the Vrijthof which is the big square in the main part of town. Then off to supper at Cafe Sjiek where Claire knows the servers now.....it was packed so we had some wine/beer standing in the crowd and the finally had a cosy table by the door....Claire had Spargel with old Dutch cheese and truffle oil and W and I had fliesh whith frites and salad. We had the great bread with yummy olive oil and S/P ......and of course more wine. The house white and red are very good and W stuck with beer. Creme Brûlée and a Lemon Tarte with gin eis and great coffee rounded out a very nice meal.
Claire helped us home with all the food W bought at Jumbo ......Hagel and cookies and coffee and Nasi spices. We are like a walking grocery store.
