Sautee Nacoochee, Georgia, United States
Today started out cloudy and gray with a bit of rain....we started out touring the Univ. Georgia and then took a country road via Danielsville to Tococca and Tullulah Falls Sate Park. Trying to find a nice place for a latte/Cappacino we were recommended to go to Clayton by the park ranger to go to Clayton which is a few more miles north up Hwy 17.. There we found a very cute coffee shop called Grapes and Beans and had a wonderful Lattee and K+I had cappuccinos . We then back tracked to the Tallulah Falls Park and walked down to the gorge.....500 or so steps!! The view was wonderful....several waterfalls.... Outlook 2-L'Eau d'Or Falls, top of Tempest Falls and Hawthorne Cascade. then Overlook 3-L'Eau d'Or Falls, Hawthorne Pool. Hurricane Falls were down 310 steps and then across a suspension Bridge and down another 221 steps for the bottom view of Hurricane Falls. There was a lovely pool at the bottom and some of the hikers who were going to continue to the bottom of the gorge were swimming. People who hike all the way to the bottom need a permit and are monitored to make sure they return at the end of the day. The day was beautiful...Sunny and around 75....the climb up the stairs was pretty hard but we all made it...slow but sure.
We arrived at Lucile's around 16:30 .its up a gravel road and then uphill to the top of a small mountain...at least that is what they call it..it's more like a high treed hill but still has a spectacular view of the Chatahoochee National Forest. The area is heavily forested and you can hear cows in the distance. Everything is very green and lush. Lucilles is lovely...Arts and craft decore and comfortable well organized rooms.. People are. Rey friendly...Met one of the owners...Jim ...seemed very nice and hospitable!!! We sat outside on the porch in the rocking chairs...the porch faces west and the sunset. We had beer and snacks and eventually went to Bernies...it's the local French bistro. We had fresh trout with potatoes and asparagus. The fish was. Rey nice but there were only 2 small quarter potatoes and 4 skinny asparagus for 28.00 ...so not the best valued meal. But when we returned to Lucilles there was yummy chocolate cake and oatmeal raisin cookies and quite good Keurige coffee. Tomorrow we will follow a drive to Brasstown Bald past more waterfall and then explore the local pottery/art galleries and vineyards.so nighty night Y'all!
