Mills River, North Carolina, United States
Today we woke up to another lovely breakfast...this time we had Selena helping us and we had Cantelope, Baked eggs with croissant, and a peanut butter ice cream pie and freshly squeezed Apple Juice. It was cloudy to begin with but the sun broke through and it was warm and the sun filtering through the leaves of the trees was quite pretty. We drove down the I 40 to Old Fort where we took Hwy70 north to the Parkway. Hwy 70 was very twisty but pretty and the Parkway continued with lots of curves, but the colors were changing and we stopped at a number of "Overlooks" and the views were beautiful....Forest everywhere. Inez wasn't feeling too well so we didn't do any of the hikes. We eventually arrived at the Pisgah Inn where we stopped for lunch...awesome view from the reastaurant but the food was only so-so....I had the pulled pork sandwich which was quite ordinary. Then we exited the Parkway at the Looking Glass Falls road and went to the local grocery store Ingles and bought some crackers and apples to go with the cheese and wine. We joined Pam and Simon on the back patio and we had a nice evening talking about all sorts of things. Tomorrow we are off to Asheville to explore.
