Woke up around doing 8 and had breakfast in the hotel...pretty good actually. Then we were off to Wakinsville first which is a tiny village about 15 min from Athens. It's not big b.ut after a few wrong turns we found the Elder Mill covered bridge outside the town.. It's a pretty area with rolling hills and large cattle/horse farms. We then went to Monroe for coffee ?.small , not exciting town.
Then we went back to Athens and spent the afternoon at the Georgia State Botanical Gardens which are just outside Athens ... They ar stunning, and free a beautiful tropical greenhouse, a herb garden and a Physic garden... Then an international, flower, shade, native, an old fashioned settlers garden and a lovely group of sculptures at the visitor center. We could have stayed much longer.
But as it was the end of the day we went to a converted garage called Teds for pizza, Happy Hour Beer at 2:50 and pizza... It's was nice as we could sit outside and people watch!
