Amicolala Falls and Ellijay

Athens, Georgia, United States
Today we had an early breakfast and off we drove towards Ellijay...except I took over the GPS and promptly got lost...around a town called Winder....drove around in a circle for awhile....we eventually we reached Amicalola Falls....it was a lovely day and the walk to the falls was pretty but not spectacular.....we also walked up to the lodge which is at the top of the Falls and has a gorgeous. Jew of the Cahattahochee Mts. The leaves are finally starting to turn color ...a couple more weeks and the colors will be beautiful.....had coffee and some sweets. Later we drove over to Ellijay which was like a small version of Dahlongea but a bit kitschy. Pretty country though....rolling hills and apple farms.....later we went to a very 1950s diner called "Clocked"for a burger and a huge thunder and lightning storm blew through....very fast and tons of rain for about 30 minutes. We were outside until the lightening got a little too close and then we moved inside....first time we had a not really friendly server. Went back to the Springhill Suites and got ready for the trip to Atlanta tomorrow.
