We drove down the coast via US 101 to Astoria ....interesting small town with a large logging port as well as fishing boats. There is a huge bridge spanning the Columbia River to Long Beach Wash. And another bridge down the coastline of Oregon. We passed lots of logging trucks and hills that had been clear cut at some point. Went through Seaside which was very tacky and crowded and eventually came to Cannon Beach. We stayed at The Inn at Cannon Beach which is at the southern end of the village. Very nice place. We had a king suite which was large and beautiful. We walked to the beach which was just across the road and walked down on the sand to Haystack Rock. The surf was out but still very rough. When we returned we toured a 3 bedroom timeshare that I'd being marked by the same company as the Inn. Very nice townhouse units....the front desk staff say that summer is incredibly busy but the area was pretty deserted now. Since we had a certificate as part of the Groupon we ate at Tom's Fish and Chips and although it was very simple the food was very good and the people very friendly. We walked around Cannon Beach but it was very deserted.
Had a cookie in the office and tried the pub next door?.not remarkable at all.
