DAY 10: nach Würzburg

Friday, August 23, 2013
Wurzburg, Bavaria, Germany
Day 10 started sunny, but grew cloudy by the time we reached the train station. We thanked Charlotte for her family's very generous hospitality. We look forward to seeing them again when we return in four weeks.

We met up with Sigrid at the station and boarded the train. During the trip we encountered an uncharacteristic delay with Deutsche Bahn. Apparently there were grass fires along the tracks. After waiting for an hour we reboarded the train and made our way to Würzburg.

Christina and Harald Kremer met us when we arrived at the train station. (Christina is the youngest of the Salomon children.) After we said our good-byes to Sigrid, we were on our way to the Kremer's house at 11 Lange Bögen. This is the house where Glenda lived from 1969 to 1970. She stayed with the Salomon family and studied at the local high school as part of a student exchange program. It was nice to see the changes that Christina and Harald had made to the house and garden since we were last here. We had a wonderful cook-out in the garden, where we were joined by Peter (Harald and Christina's son), his friend Anastasia and her daughter Maia.
