DAY 41: Traveling Back Home

Auburn, New York, United States
The last day of our trip was spent traveling back to the United States. Once again, we were flying separately. Glenda landed first and retrieved the car - rather Karen met Glenda at the airport with our car. (Thanks again Karen!) Having left the Bauer's house in Böhmfeld at 4:00 am, this was a rather long day. It was close to midnight local time - more than 24 hours later - when Glenda and Michael were finally reunited outside the airport in Syracuse. Somewhere along the way Michael's US sim card got corrupted. No one, including the tech support at Blackberry and Verizon seemed to know how to get the phone working again without "flashing" the memory. This meant there were no pictures of the return trip back or of the reunion in Syracuse. More importantly, over 3,000 pictures from the trip were lost. Fortunately we had the blog, with its 360 photos, and the 1500 back-up photos from Glenda's camera. Although we lost many irreplaceable photos, especially of the many new and long-time friends we saw on the trip, we still have many wonderful memories.
