Saturday at the Park

Paris, Île-de-France, France
Today was a wonderful day. We decided to go out and just visit a garden. On our way there, we were side tracked by the Nike store where we both bought new walking shoes. We love them! Cory's are blue, the color of the French soccer team (Le Bleu). Our feet are thanking us now.

Then we went to Jardin du Luxembourg, the most beautiful garden in Paris . It's actually a huge park that was originally laid out in the 1600's and was attached to the Luxembourg chateau. When we first entered the garden gates, we walked a bit down the gravel path, hearing music but not knowing where the musicians were. Then we found a beautiful leafy grove with a bandstand and a large, full orchestra playing beautiful pop/classical music. Next to the grove of trees and bandstand was a café so we grabbed a table, ordered some wine and beer and enjoyed the music. Children were playing with soccer balls, families were walking, and everyone was enjoying the lovely day.

After wandering through the gardens we walked a couple blocks and found another little bistro where we had to have another glass of wine and beer. We were feeling great by then, so we started walking and stopped in a cheese store. A nice young man sold us two different kinds of cheese that we loved. So, we kept walking, munching our cheese and decided this was good and we were hungry. Next stop--another bistro for dinner. Hamburgers, steak and frites with more beer and wine and we felt great. We found the Metro, made our way back to our apartment, and are now lazing on the couch, happy with our garden day.

Now you are getting the hang of it! A little bit each day with a garden, drinks, and cheese sprinkled through. Jealous!
