Bowling in Paris--kind of

Paris, Île-de-France, France
We had a lazy day today and decided to just go for a walk before dinner. Walking down the street, Cory saw a sign that said "Bar, Billiards, Bowling" so we had to investigate this. Yup, in the back of the bar was a bowling alley--sort of a bowling alley. There were eight miniature lanes that looked just like a bowling alley only smaller. Each lane was about half the length of a US regulation lane and the balls were about half the size of a US bowling ball. The pins were little too. Each pin had a string on top of it. When it was knocked over, the string pulled it up into the pinsetter. There were about six or so kids and a mother there bowling. The lanes were coin operated. You put a 5 euro coin in the slot for each person and could bowl for an hour. It was really funny and cute. The kids were having a blast. The scoring was just like US bowling and automatically showed up on the screen above the lane. I guess the French do like to bowl!

We went to a little bar further up the road to watch the soccer game and have some wine . We're becoming soccer fans. Neither of us had ever watched soccer before, but we're really enjoying it. We're looking forward to the next USA game.

Casey, we discover something new every day. It's really a wonderland of new sights and things to do. Today we went to Fontainebleau chateau and met a man and his son while we were eating dinner outside the chateau. He had taught at U of A in the business program and was now teaching in an international business school in Fontainebleau. We watched the soccer game with them. It's such a small world!
