Friday Night at the Pub

Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland
It's after midnight and the taxi just dropped us off at home after an evening at the Abbey Tavern. We had a great night. We took the DART to Howth (in the rain, of course) and arrived at the tavern about 7 pm. The peat fire was burning and the Guinness was perfectly poured. After a pint, we had corned beef with mustard sauce, cabbage and mashed potatoes for dinner. Excellent choice, if I say so myself. A bit of conversation and two Guinness's later, we went into the room where they have the Irish music and dancing show. This was an excellent show. The musicians began with Thinn Lizzie's "Whisky in the Jar" and kept right on going. They did a beautiful rendition of "Danny Boy" and lots of other hand slapping, favorite Irish songs. The Irish dancers, 2 lads and 2 lassies, were excellent.  We talked to some nice people from Canada who were in Dublin a few days before catching a Crystal cruise all around Ireland. We told them about our cruise last summer and exclaimed how we both loved Crystal cruise line. After the show we had enough time for another Guinness before catching the DART back home. We miscalculated that a bit and the DART stopped at Connelly Station, about halfway home, and ended service for the night. No problem--a taxi took us to our door, safe and sound, and happy we didn't have to walk the last mile from the DART station! A good night, all in all, and we love Irish music and dancing! Enjoy the pics!
