We're on the road again for our next big adventure--this time to South America and Central America. Today, November 30, we flew to Los Angeles to meet our friends Fran and Len King. We checked into a the Crowne Plaza in Redondo Beach, a really lovely hotel, and rented a car so we could see some of the area. Yesterday we all drove to Venice Beach. We enjoyed seeing the very California-style beach homes on the way. Then we walked down Venice Beach with its many tourist shops and funky people rolling along happily. We watched the very buffed guys pumping weights at Muscle Beach, stopped for a coffee, and strolled to the end of the Venice Beach pier to watch the waves rolling in. We had a great seafood dinner (much better than the one the evening before!). Today is relaxation day and, of course, watching college football on tv. We're having dinner tonight with friends, and we board the Emerald Princess tomorrow morning. Next stop is Cabo San Lucas!
After a few days in LA, we then board the Emerald Princess for a spectacular 31 day cruise to South America.
After port stops in Cabo San Lucas and Puntarenas, Costa Rica, we'll spend several days in Lima and Pisco, Peru. Then we travel down the Chile coast with three stops before stopping in Tierra Del Fuego, Argentina, and cruising around Cape Horn. This is followed by port stops in the Falkland Islands, Puerto Madryn, Argentina, and Montevideo, Uraguay. The cruise ends in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on Jan. 3, and we're spending the next week exploring Buenos Aires.
But we're not stopping there! Since we'll already be in Buenos Aires, we decided it's a great opportunity to spend some time in Central America before we return to the US. We've booked Homeaway apartments in Panama City, Panama, for the month of January, in Jaco, Costa Rica for February, and in Ambergris Cay, Belize, for March. April and May we're going to Maui and Kauai, two of our favorite islands, to relax on the beach and enjoy that Hawaiian vibe. We have a VRBO apartment booked on Maui on Kaanapali Beach. For Kauai I booked through AhhAloha Agency to rent an apartment in Princeville on the cliffs overlooking the ocean.
We have more plans for next summer. From Hawaii we will fly to Sydney, Australia, on May 31 and a few days later board the Sea Princess for a round-the-world cruise for 106 days! Here's a link to the itinerary that really sold us on this trip: https://www.princess.com/find/searchResults.do?voyages=C814A . People say that guests on round-the-world cruises are friendlier and lifelong relationships begin on these cruises. We love meeting new friends, but the real bonus is that our Australian friends, Gary and Jenny, are joining us on the cruise.
Some exciting plans are being made for the next fall and winter, but that will be a surprise! ;-)
