TUESDAY
Another morning of “birthday
week”, so Deb got 2 eggs over easy, freshly ground Hazelnut Vanilla coffee and
Italian toast. After cleaning up Deb walked Jake and (DC)Cody and we decided to go try our luck at
the huge Indian casino we saw on the way to our park. Deb wore her “new birthday
yellow shirt’ while I wore my highway camo! We stopped at Mc D to use their Wi
Fi to send yesterdays blog and then drove to THE CASINO!!
This casino advertised a “FREE
BUFFET” if you fill out the application for one of their players club cards.
There
were a couple of hundreds of cars in the huge parking lot , (NOT ONE
electric at the 11 Tesla plugs!), and the casino was huge and very nice! We got
our frequent player cards, the lady was somewhat skeptical about how often an
Alabama resident would get up here to play, and Mike locked onto one of his
favorite games in Biloxi ! The lady gave us a choice of the free buffet or $15
in play money and I quickly responded, ”the free buffet because if we lose all
our money we can still eat once”.
Well the southern hospitality had NOT
been taught to the owners of this northern machine and that “I know it is ready
to hit” proved wrong again and again and again and again…… Finally, we
retreated to a raging bull game where some good luck let us recover about $40
of the $200, we lost “linking our hearts” and after a couple of weak adult
beverages we hiked down to the buffet line and enjoyed a fairly light dinner as
we laughed away our losses! The entire city of SALAMANCA is native American,
the government of the city, taxes, roads, water system and McDonald’s etc. are
all native. Even some of the stop signs have stop in the native language along
with STOP!
We took several different back
country roads back to camp, the doggies were happy that we came back and didn’t
pawn Cody, and they and Deb enjoyed a night time hike before dark.
