1st Week at Linda's for Docs and Family

Pickerington, Ohio, United States
The first week back in Ohio is always interesting we adjust to the cooler climate, the absence of the huge pine trees of Alabama and miss the daily crossing of our little bay into Florida. This year it was a little different for us "Southern transplanted" Ex Ohioans.
First it is NO cooler up north this year, daily temps have all been in the low to mid 90s and while we are used to that in July, its unusually warmer than normal for here. I have to issue a HUGE Shout Out to Linda for having a 50 Amp circuit installed where we park the motorhome! It makes the interior of the "Big Wheelie House" so comfortable for sleeping every night! Jakie is especially happy to add his Bark Out to Linda for this also!
Ohio is about two weeks behind Bama in opening up inside dining, but we did get to go to our favorite pizza spot Monday and have a special pizza and a couple of pitchers of dark beer for the 7 adults and different pizza and pop for the 6 youngsters. That is the first of SEVERAL trips to the Grapevine that I hope we get to take despite limited dining hours.
Deb went on a hike with Linda , Molly and Hugh and as usual Hugh provided them with plenty of entertainment.  They did one of the back trails in Blacklick Metro Park which wraps around to a big pond filled with big snapping turtles and fish and many other critters.  Deb said Hugh did really great until it was time to leave the pond and then things went haywire. He did not want to leave!
Two doctor visits are always a priority on our annual trip to Ohio. Usually it is the annual Eye exam, then yearly physicals from a doctor who cared for us for over 25 years. This year, just as we left Alabama, I noticed a tooth becoming sensitive. Since we both had just visited our Bama dentists earlier in June, I was sure I must have lost a filling or something simple, Our old dentist office in Ohio, made time to check me out but indicated it wasn't that simple, They sent me to a specialist who took some 3 D vs 2 D XRays and came back with....Root Canal. Not looking forward to that date for sure!
Our local community, Pickerington DID have fireworks for the 4th. Just like Lillian most of the surrounding fireworks were cancelled but we had them! And we had a July 4 FEAST of BBQ Ribs, smoked Pork Butt, Cassellbaums Corn, Fried Chicken, Red Hot Chicken spread, and a fresh beer "keg". All of that was great, then we had the fireworks from the local neighbors that outdid the community show!
So we usually have to set up a dish to watch satellite TV, but last year and this year after changing from Direct TV to Dish TV we  were just unable to aim the 3 LNB dish or the weight of the dish was too much for our stand. Deb and I have always taken some pride in being able to aim and find our satellite but some technology is just better! So Debbie ordered  an automated Traveler dome dish that you just set out and it locates the satellite for you.  It turns out you can order almost anything you need from Wal Mart, and two days later we are no longer aiming our own satellite dish!

Good to FaceTime you both the other day. Yes we are steaming here in the 90’s all week, and today 95. Looks like you’re enjoying your stay here.

I’m sure you enjoyed your visit with family. I’m so envious. I’m supposed to go to Ohio in August but not looking forward to the cold. We southerners think 75 degrees is cold. So enjoyed looking at the pictures. I enjoy Molly’s post on Hugh adventures, I’m sure he can be a handful, but I get a good laugh out of them. Enjoy your trips and be safe. Love
