We had another awesome breakfast of meat and Smoked Salmon
Benedict!!! Afterwards, we retired to the Sun Deck to watch the ship pull into
Passau. We dock right at the edge of the old town.
Kim and I had decided yesterday to stay longer in Passau so
we could explore more. I am afraid that we would have slept all afternoon, if
we go back to the ship!!
We got off and met Alexander, who will be our guide for the
next hour and a half. I liked him because his humor is a lot like mine!! We got
some history and stories to entertain us on the tour. At the end, we were given
the chance to visit the cathedral to listen to an organ concert. While organ
music is not my thing, I enjoyed it.
Although, I was hoping that the organist would break into “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida.” Sadly, she did not!!

After lunch, we went back into town and walked around the
back streets and went into the shops. It was cool to get off of the beaten path
(well the typical cruise ship passenger path) and see more of the Old Town! We
went down to the point where the Danube and the Inn rivers merge. The Inn has suspended
minerals and turns the river into a milky grey/green color. The Danube above
Passau is more of a typical green. It is cool to see where the two meet. There
is a distinct jagged line where the meet, but do not mix. About a half mile
below this point, they are fully mixed.
We met Carl at 17:30 and boarded a bus for Vilshofen. It
looked like there was only one other couple who stayed in Passau.
