Port: Berching – Because of lock situation, we did not make
it to Nuremburg and had to take bus.
Arrival Time: 10:00.
Port: Roth - Meet Program Director at 19:00 to catch bus to
Roth.
Departure Time: 18:00
We awoke to the news that we had not made it very far last
night. As soon as we got into Berching, we were going to be bussed to
Nuremberg. We amazed the locals. The dock was for a ship with a maximum length
of 110 meters. We docked our 135 meter ship at their dock!!!
Since we were leaving before lunch, we were going to be going
to a restaurant, Restaurant Heilig-Geist-Spital, for lunch! He showed the
picture of the restaurant and I was happy!!! I see a picture of the restaurant
every week. It is one of the pictures from 1989 that is in my screensaver!!
After lunch, we went on a bus tour. It was a look out the
windows on the left and look out the windows on the right, …!!! The coolest
thing we did was to drive right through the Congress Hall center. We were
supposed to visit Zeppelin Field (where all of the majoe Nazi rallies were
held), but there was a DTM race there this weekend! I wish I knew about it,
because I would have gone there instead of the tour!!

The bus part was OK, but the walking tour had a lot of
history.
We were dropped off at the castle and then went down to the Church of
Our Lady (Frauenkirche). The sun was starting to get lower in the sky and it
bathed the church in a golden glow. It made for nice pictures!!
The market stalls in front of the church were starting to
close up, but we got a mixed bratwurst of a standard, hot smoked, and smoked
bratwurst. Mmmmm, we should have gotten another one!! We will keep our eyes out
for these smoked bratwursts!!!

Since there was another hour and a half added to our
departure time, we went to the Central Train Station and the Frauentorturm (Tower).
There are nice craft shops and bars inside the walled enclosure.
We got back on board and immediately went to dinner. We were
about an hour behind the dinner schedule!! After dinner, Viking brought in some
opera singers. I felt guilty when Carl was telling us that this was a must see
(hear). Hmmmm, I would enjoy opera singing as much as I would want to hear
Cousin Pearl do Yodeling (see if you know that reference!!!)!!!
