Guadalajara, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico
Guadalajara is an historic city with lots of cool buildings from hundreds of years ago. The Hospicio Cabanas is a World Heritage site, built in the 19th century to provide care and shelter to the poor and disabled. In the early 20th century, it was decorated with a series of murals by famed Mexican muralist Jose Clemente Orozco. The highlight is the ceiling, featuring the Man of Fire fresco.
Other sights of the city are the Cathedral and Palace of Justice. I spend three nights in Guadalajara, making side trips to Tequila and the Pyramids of Guachimontones.
