The Taj Mahal!

Agra, India
Our journey to Agra starts at Fatehpur Sikri, a former Mughal capital, later abandoned for Agra due to lack of water. Our hotel in Agra that night was one of the nicest we stayed in, which was nice because we had to get up quite early the next morning for a sunrise view of the Taj Mahal. Sadly, the pollution in Agra, despite some efforts from the Indian government, is still pretty awful, which somewhat obscures the beauty of the Taj.

The Taj is a majestic experience, but I doubt there's anything I can say or show here that you can't find in a million other places, so I'll just move on to our final tourist attraction--the Red Fort of Agra. This is where Aurangzeb imprisoned his father, Shah Jahan, the builder of the Taj Mahal, for the last eight years of his life. As the story goes, Shah Jahan spent his final years looking out at the Taj, the resting place of his beloved wife. Today, the pollution renders such a feat rather difficult.
