A New Year's Eve to Remember

Chiang Rai, Thailand
We spent New Year's Eve in Chiang Rai, which was a total blast. But then the next morning, we had to ride in the back of pick-up trucks along bumpy roads to visit the hill tribes. Not much fun when you're hungover!

The various hill tribes in Northern Thailand are really incredible. You can see the Karen women with their famous neckbands, a young Yao girl in traditional clothing, an Akha woman in the famous silver headdress and a woman with betelnut stained teeth. The variety of dress, jewelry, and culture vary greatly among the various peoples, and are truly a sight to behold.
