With the help of VW Campersales in the UK, we are now the proud owners of this LHD (left hand drive) 2.5 L diesel campervan with a host of enhancements and add ons such as sat navigation, reversing camera, bike rack and lots more.
You may ask: Why this kind of a campervan and not the ones traditionally seen in North America? Or you may be thinking, camping in winter - have they lost it ? How does a toilet and shower fit inside?
The answers respectively:
- these are built for the smaller European roads and they measure up like a regular mini-van so less hassle driving around on smaller roads, maneuvering, and parking
- car camping is pretty easy in Europe and with the built-in diesel heater, we should, in theory, be nice and toasty...yeah, we may give in and rent an apartment or room when we get tired of living out of a vehicle but hopefully southern Spain isn't too cold in January - for now, we're totally gung ho
- no toilet and shower inside - but there is a gas cooking stove, fridge and lots of storage - so a mini kitchen and sleeping space for 4 adults but when nature calls, it must be taken outside (yes, even when it's sub zero outside!)
