We woke up with a late start and headed out right away to watch the women's marathon. As we headed out, the skies opened up and it started to pour! We got to the spot where we were watching it and laughed when we saw the sign "misting station ahead" for the runners. As everyone was huddled under their umbrellas and under buildings, we didn’t think they would need it! 26 minutes into the race, they passed by us in a large group, led by a large truck showing their time so far and carrying all the media in the back – also huddled under their ponchos and wet weather gear. We switched places after the first lap so that we could have St. Paul’s in the background and the rain let up a bit. By the 3^rd lap the runners were very spread out and the sun was back out.

We got back to Aksinia’s around 2, had a quick lunch and settled in to do some photo editing and watch the tennis match. Anoop headed out to a pub with Aksinia’s flatmate, hoping to get some Olympics atmosphere. Unfortunately, the game wasn’t too exciting and was over in 3 sets!

We then headed down to Tower Bridge to get some photos with the Olympic rings and go for a walk along the south bank. The bridge really is amazing and we were really lucky to see them raise it to let a boat go by. Aksinia said that doesn’t happen very often so we were happy to have seen it. We wandered along a bit further and then the rings were lowered into place, so we stopped for yet more photos. We crossed over the bridge and saw a really old double decker bus passing by. By the time we got to the other side, the sun was shining right on the bridge, so we stopped again for photos! Definitely more editing to do!

We zipped back home after that and had a late dinner, watched the 100m men’s final on tv and got ready to head out the next morning. Tomorrow we are off to Burgess Hill to pick up our van!
