En route to Bangalore

Dubai, United Arab Emirates
We arrived at the airport with plenty of time to check in. We flew Emirates which we had never flown before but had heard great things about. We were sitting at the back of the plane since there were two seats, then the aisle, rather than three which was great. We had lots of leg room and there was no barrier in between the feet for the seats in front so we could stretch out. The entertainment system was top notch -we had a 10" screen and tons of movies to choose from. We settled in and enjoyed the first leg of our flight which was just under 7 hours. The meals were quite good and we even had "tea” with clotted cream and a scone. We arrived in Dubai at night their time and by the time we had got off the plane, took the bus from the tarmac to the terminal, went through security and used the washroom, it was time to board again. We got to our gate about 45 mins before the plane was set to take off. The lady scanned our ticket and said that we had been upgraded to business class!!! What a luxury! We were in the section right after first class, beside the kitchen area which separated us from the rest of business class - it was like our own private area since there were only 7 passengers in the width of the plane. We had so much leg room that I could stretch my legs out fully in front of me and still not touch the wall in front! Before taking off they served us pre-dinner drinks and I enjoyed orange juice while Anoop had a glass of champagne. One of the flight attendants even changed the flower bouquet in the holder for a fresher bunch. Then we plugged in our fancy noise-cancellation headphones that they provided and watched a movie until take-off. The flight was about 45 mins late leaving because there wasn't enough air space available. We weren't too disappointed since they then served another drink before dinner along with warmed up mixed nuts. Pretty deluxe! Once we took off and were up in the air we folded out our trays from our armrest (no plastic - they had a fake wood finish on it!) and the lady put out a cloth as a tablecloth over it and then brought a tray with our meals (which we'd ordered off a fancy menu). The tray had actual bowls and plates with nice cutlery (2 forks, 2 knives and a spoon!) along with a napkin in a metal napkin ring. We enjoyed a prawn and scallop green papaya salad with 3 different dinner rolls. We had salmon skewers with a tomato sauce and potatoes, beans, zucchini. It was delicious - in fact, it was better than some restaurants we have eaten in! Then came dessert, I had mixed fruit and Anoop had a cherry pannacotta. Then they gave us a small box of Godiva chocolates. Anoop took advantage of their real coffee and had a cappucino as well. It was all quite deluxe and we really enjoyed our flight. We were really happy with economy as well so getting an upgrade to business was an added bonus.

Ain't business class great? I used to fly that way all the time when I was doing business in Europe, but the best was I got upgraded to first class from Vancouver to Singapore, wow what a luxury. I am glad you enjoyed it!

I can hear the excitement in your voice in this blog write-up! Reminds me of Wes when he get's to go in the airport lounges with me. He pigs out on everything and has beer for breakfast. Why, well just because he can! haha!
