Nestled in the Southern Group of the Cook Islands in the South Pacific Ocean, Rarotonga is a tranquil escape, home to around 13,000 residents. Hosting an International Airport, it serves as the laid back gateway to the Cook Islands.
The economy of Rarotonga lies in its tourism, offering visitors serene beaches, vibrant coral reefs, and a lush, mountainous interior reminiscent of Bora Bora. Te Rua Manga, or "The Needle," stands tall in the island's central landscape.
Arriving on a Sunday, a sacred day for locals, most places, except resorts, embraced a day of rest. While we missed the night market due to an early departure. With our long cruise you can’t always have the best day at every location.
Opting for a local safari tour, we were driven around the entire coastline, explored the island including some of the resorts and cultural sights. With limited options available today, we headed back to the ship, content with the glimpses of Rarotonga. Perhaps we might come back here one day.
