Bay of Islands, Northland, New Zealand
We arrived by tender to a little fishing village call Paihia. Then a short 15 minute ferry ridge to Russell, nestled in the Bay of Islands, New Zealand. It is a quaint town with lots of  maritime history. Formerly known as Kororāreka, it played a pivotal role as an early European settlement, serving as a bustling whaling and trading port. With a population of just 790, Russell offers a serene escape with maritime activities like boating, sailing, and dolphin watching. Russell maintains its historic charm with well preserved white painted buildings such as the Pompallier Mission and one of the oldest hotels in the country called the Duke of Marlborough.  We have been here before and after a short stroll through the town and local markets, we headed to a local winery for lunch. It had stunning views over some of the 140 islands in the bay of islands. The weather was sunny, the food was delicious, the wine was excellent. Back to the ship for our last night before arriving in Auckland.
