Cannes is a city located on the French Riviera. It is a commune located in the Alpes-Maritimes department, and host city of the annual Cannes Film Festival, Midem, and Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.
The city is known for its association with the rich and famous, its luxury hotels and restaurants, and for several conferences. On 3 November 2011 it also played host to the G20 organisation of industrialised nations. It has a population of 75,000.
We travelled by local bus there and arrived in the middle of town and it was very busy. The Cannes film festival is on and 2 cruise ships were in the bay. We saw the red carpet where the stars walk into the Festival. There were thousands of boats and Mark was in ore.
We walked through the crowd and found a nice little restaurant to escape the rain, have a bite and a cleanser.
The shops were high end and there were lots of tourists around. We caught the train home and it was a much faster trip than the local bus. A great day.
