Saint-Tropez is a coastal town on the French Riviera, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of southeastern France. Long popular with artists, the town attracted the international "jet set" in the 1960s, and remains known for its beaches and nightlife. The cobblestoned La Ponche quarter recalls its past as a fishing village, although yachts now outnumber fishing boats in the Vieux Port (Old Port). It has a population of 4,300. Bridget Bardot had a house here and some respects we can now see why.
We caught a ferry from the marina in Nice and headed towards Saint Tropez, we stopped off at Cannes and Sainte-Marguerite Island. We arrived after 2 and 1/2 hours on the ferry, wow, we didn't realise how long it was going to be. Saint Tropez was a beautiful little village with boats, yachts and artists that line the wharfs. Plenty of little shops and bars, some brand names shops and they had a house of Chanel. The little alley streets reminded us of a bit of Mykonos. The weather was sunny and we just loved to meander down narrow streets. We found a little Thai restaurant in one of the alleys and it totally shocked the owner that he had a customer. The food was so fresh and nice, oh and so were the drinks. We really liked Saint Tropez, it was very relaxed, smaller than what we imagined and picturesque. One shout overlooking the super yachts was more expensive than care to remember :(
