Hello from Stavanger

Sandnessjøen, Nordland, Norway
Stavanger is a city in southwestern Norway. In the center of town, Stavanger Cathedral dates back to the city’s 12th-century. Unfortunately it was under repair and we were unable to see it today. The shopping street Øvre Holmegate is known for its colorful houses. It was was so beautiful and the flowers are in bloom. It has a population of 130,000.
Stavanger itself is one of the oldest cities in Norway. We strolled through the beautiful preserved old town, with over 170 wooden houses on winding streets creating a quaint and charming atmosphere with the beautiful coloured flowers. The cobble stone paths sometimes are a challenge when you are looking around and not looking at your feet. Stavanger harbour was an important strategic place for the the German occupying forces in World War II. We visited the Maritime museum and saw a Nazi flag that they removed once they were liberated by the allied forces.  Another cruise ship arrived after us today and as the weather deteriorated and the rain set in we headed back to the ship in the early afternoon. If you want to buy warm, waterproof clothing, this is the place to get it, so many shops. Such as pretty  place to visit.

Norway looks like a picture book. Yesterday’s shot of the sunset looked like a clip from Lifestyles of the rich and famous. Dory ,that’s probably a bit before your time.
