Bouldercombe to Guthalangra

Guthalungra, Queensland, Australia
Rick was a happy chappie this morning as the lovely fresh breeze was a tail wind for our journey north. Amazingly we were on the road by 7.30am - wonders will never cease!

Through Rocky we drove, with bull statues everywhere, then on to Flaggy Rock Store for some reminiscing over a yummy homemade ice cream each . Many years ago we would drive up from Brown's house at Claireview for an ice cream here with Oliver, Jodie and Carissa. We now hear that Joe Brown has cancer and not long to live.

In Mackay we stocked up with fuel for Pearl (the car) and grog ( for us, in case anyone was wondering ). Then just north of Mackay we stopped at the lovely shady rest area for lunch. While we ate we watched three wedge tail eagles circling over the cane fields across the road.

On we went with the driver keen to get some more kilometres up, and no nice free camps available (Whitsunday area is definitely RV unfriendly). Once past Bowen we listened in on the CB to a heated conversation between the two vehicles behind us,discussing the merits of speed limits, with the truckie making a lot of sense. This passed the time for us until we came to Guthalangra, with the sweetest place for the night and a lovely space just for us.

Once I had the washing hanging out, we enjoyed drinks and nibblies in the cool shade - Rick thought this camp was a bit more up market than Docker River (Kay and Bas). It certainly is well lit at night and the facilities are pretty spiffy.

Tea was reheated spaghetti bolognese with more cider for the driver and a red or two for the navigator. 605 ks travelled today! and the driver is still happy!! Amazing what alcohol can do :-)
