On we go to Charters Towers

Charters Towers, Queensland, Australia
We arrived in "The Towers " on Thursday afternoon, and set up the van on Col and Liz's block with the new house. We hadn't seen Col since Krista's and Oliver's wedding, and Liz since before Rick's 60th birthday, so it was wonderful to spend some time with them. Liz made a great Mexican meal, including margaritas, that first night and we went to bed after lots of laughs. We slept well, with the dogs and chooks and frogs and Clancy the horse not disturbing us too much.

Friday was spent watching Matt and Danielle's Grace swim then we enjoyed lunch with Liz in town . We cooked pizzas for tea and had lots more laughs with Matt and Corey joining us.

On Saturday we dressed up a little bit fancy to sit in the marquee at the Charters Towers Races, courtesy of Matt. The last time we did this was for Col's 50th birthday in 2008. Wow, they really go to town for the races here! And so many people! They must come out of the woodwork.

Lunch was lovely and we got to spend time with more Hammonds too. Then it was time for us to visit Shelley and Rick. Paul's wife Ann Marie was there with the three children, Riley, Grace and Rhys. Paul was at work. Grace had been busy making platters for our visit, what a little cutie.

Liz had been busy in the kitchen while we were at Shelley's so when we got home we ate and drank some more. Matt, Dan and the kids were there too and it was lovely to see how happy they are now that all is well between the families.

We're getting used to the menagerie noises at night, so we slept well. Even the wind chimes were lulling.
