Torrens Creek, Queensland, Australia
We said goodbye to Barbara and Graeme after another lovely breakfast of bacon and eggs- these free camps with meals including are fantastic! We're lucky to have such good friends.

At Prairie we stopped for a look at the huge old Comet still working windmill then walked across the Flinders Highway to the Prairie Honey Self Service Window to buy some honey . We then drove on to Torrens Creek where we were going to take the road to Aramac, but it had started to rain quite heavily by now. We stopped to ask the publican at the Torrens Creek Pub how the road would be with the rain they were getting and all the negative comments on WikiCamps are so true! Wow! How to win friends and influence people, not! What a grump!

Rick decided not to chance the wet conditions (wuss) so we drove back to Charters Towers and turned south towards Emerald. We stopped for the night at a rest area with nothing except peace, when the occasional road train or vehicle wasn't driving past.

For a couple of hours we dozed on our chairs in the shade , me with wet washers draped on me, until it was cool enough to cook tea. Maybe we should have taken the coast road as Rick suggested :-/

After our steak and salad tea and when the cleaning up was done, we cooled down with cold showers, then lay back on our camp chairs in the pitch black to watch lightning in the south west, a few shooting stars and a satellite or two. Then the just waning moon rose magnificently in the east and dark clouds came across. We were inside just before the rain came down, so our night was cool and fresh after the hot dry day.
