We arrived at Mill Run Creek Campground on Friday, July 24th
Our campsite was located in Thornton, Indiana which is about 30 minutes outside of Indianapolis
. This was the first really hot weather we had experienced on our trip thus far. Thank goodness for air conditioning. The zip line park had to close the weekend before we arrived due to a heat index of 105 degrees.
Speaking of zip line. We visited Eagle Creek Park Go Ape Zip Line And Obstacle Course. Our trip was scheduled at 9:00am so the temp was fine. We spent 21/2 hours having a blast. We all chose to do the extreme course vs the easy or moderate. It was fun, very challenging and at times scary-but we all loved it. We were not allowed to take cell phones, thus did not get to take our own photos. Some spectators on the ground took a few pictures of us and emailed to me-so very nice of them. Have also included in photo section some general photos from Eagle Creek. This is so much more than a zip line canopy tour. It is made up of numerous rope ladders, 39 crossings that varied in difficulty and skill. We even had 2 Tarzan swings where we we stopped by a large net as we swung into it-you then had to climb the net to the next platform
.
Each platform took us higher and higher. Rob and I were proud to complete the course but it kicked our butts. Elena had such a good time.
After we arrived back at campground Elena spent several hours designing and painting a T-shirt depicting Minecraft characters. It is quite impressive.
Also visited the Indianapolis Children's Museum which was unbeknownst to us is the largest children's museum in the U.S. We spent 5 hours there and even though we made it through the museum, did not begin to scratch the surface. An amazing venture for all ages. So many different exhibits, adventures , and interactive activities. From visiting China starting with an airplane ride there, to dubbing our voices into a cartoon. The dinosphere exhibit was breathtaking. If you are ever in Indy, don't miss this city treasure.
On our way home early evening from the museum it began raining and by the time we arrived back to the campground, it was storming. Heavy rain, thunder and lightening. We had to sedate Luke as he was TERRIFIED. I have included photos of the flooding at our campsite. Luckily our camper was on a cement slab, so we stayed high and dry. Everything else was floating.
By morning the rain had cropped, we rinsed and dried everything out and broke camp to head towards Indy.
