Another day and this time a disaster in a French toilet
Yesterday the weather was quite beautiful so we caught the hydrofoil
for a day trip from Jersey to St Malo in
France . The town is really picturesque with lots of fantastic shops and a great
atmosphere in this medieval walled town. After lunch saw a bride going into a
church on her way to be married.
Dyana decided she needed to go and the only public toilet
was one of those new fangled ones which we had to pay for and it cleans itself
after each person. There as a queue for
it and the woman standing with Dyana spoke to her and showed that she did not
have enough money, or something like that. The inside of the toilet was all stainless
steel. The walls, basin and everything. It was also completely wet from being
cleaned. The person before Dyana had emerged, closed the door and the machine
had gone into its overdrive mode completely cleaning itself, the walls and
everything before unlocking itself for the next customer. You put your money in
and the door would only then open.
As Dyana came out, the next woman
in the queue said in French that she didn’t have enough change for the toilet
and wanted to just go in as Dyana held the door open for her. As we walked away
and the door closed behind her we heard the swishing noise of the water jets
cleaning the entire inside of the cubicle!!! Only this time there was a woman
inside.................... !!!!
We didn’t know what to do and listening to the jets of water
being squirted everywhere inside the cubicle could only double up laughing thinking
about what must be going on inside this steel machine and made a very quick
escape. We didn’t want to be around when the door opened at all!!!!! Can you
just imagine what a person must look like after being in a shower with all
their clothes on? And would then emerge back onto the street.
The French must have known we were around and had a military
parade, (we’d like to think in our honour) to christen a new sailing vessel.
This was held on the ramparts of the town with the soldiers in old style
military uniforms. See the short video attached.
More soo because we now have a date for the Caribbean and it’s
the 19th of the month.
