12 October, day 8. Left Cassis on the Route de Cretes road, windy and twisty with great views back to Cassis and the Calanques.. Continued along the coast and lunch at St-Cyr-sur-Mer, past Toulon to the flat marches beyond Hyeres to a camping a la ferme at the end of a peninsular at La Tour Fondue. Very basic campsite. Walk along the cliffs in the late afternoon. Pretty cloudy all day
13 October. 10min walk from the campsite is the ferry to Porquerolles island. The literature says 'Porquerolles is renowned for its exceptional beaches and crystal clear waters'. But we found it to be a disappointment. We hired bikes and cycled around. Not much there really, a few beaches which weren't particularly exceptional, a few vineyards, mostly wooded. But we did manage a swim on the Notre Dame beach. Glorious sunny and warm day
