Oia, Cyclades, Greece
Santorini has several small villages with Oia being the village at the northwest tip of the island. Oia is essentially a group of small hotels, shops, and restaurants to service the tourists. Oia originally was populated by seamen who built the "captains houses" dug into the rock and today these cave dwellings serve as the beautiful hotels of Oia. We spent the day strolling through the marble streets of Oia looking at the upscale Greek arts and crafts and eating amazing food after watching the famous santorini sunset. We had a great dinner at the 1800 restaurant which had been recommended by our friends Patty and Mike. Tomorrow we will rent a car and explore the rest of the island.
