I woke up at midnight for a trip out back and noticed a faint glow in the NE which was N Lights but not worth getting up for. Checked the sky a few more times, but nothing except a beautiful starry sky. Got up to start the day to a chorus from the dogs, all howling! There was a light wind but fortunately it died before we got going for the day.
After a great breakfast it was harnessing and hitching up again for a ride on Lake Labarge this time
. It was a gloriously sunshiny day, lots of blue sky, pristine frozen lake, in other words, flat, no trees, corners or inclines. It was warm for the Yukon, at about -3 and eventually up to -1.
We travelled north 4 miles or so, stopped at a summer canoe camp for a hot dog and hot chocolate lunch. Then carried on a further 2 miles or so before turning back towards home again. We passed the flat bottom river boat that took me on a three day trip down the Yukon River three years ago. That was a fabulous trip too. And then back to the dog yard to water, unharness and take them back to their huts and then a bit of downtime before supper. An absolutely wonderful, perfect day.
Supper was excellent again with lively conversation. Made plans for the morning and was back in my little cabin by 9:00. Really was hoping to see the Northern Lights here at least once but the sky had a thick cloud cover by then, so, not likely to happen. Oh, well! May just have to go back again some day.

Truly truly an amazing adventure. How to explain the experience of sled dogs yodelling? Something you will never forget I know I haven't and it's been 14 years
