Visiting Family at Tobin Lake

Tobin Lake, Saskatchewan, Canada
Woke up to a cold, wet day. One last breakfast (catering was excellent every day) and then on my way again. This time to Nipawin and then to Tobin Lake to connect with my aunt and uncle. They were fishing when I got there and came in with 4 very nice looking fish. The catch was lunch the next day.
Saturday morning they took me choke-cherry picking around their campground and we got 2 ice cream buckets in no time . I washed them, then boiled them down and strained them to get rid of the pits. This then required a trip into Nipawin to get jars and sugar. That afternoon I went out fishing with them. They didn’t catch anything but it was very relaxing just to be out on the water. They have a pontoon boat which is very roomy and stable.

Spent a few hours on Sunday morning boiling up the cherry sauce, some with apples, to make jelly and syrup. In the long, it all became syrup. But that’s ok. It’s delicious! It was a cool, cloudy, rainy day so nobody went fishing and I did laundry, which had been piling up.

My aunt and I set off for Arborfield Monday morning to see her sister, (who is also my aunt). We had a very nice lunch with her and a great visit and then back to Tobin Lake. I said my goodbyes - I really enjoyed my stay there - and then started driving again, planning to get to Narrow Hills Provincial Park. But instead, connected with a my cousin in Nipawin for a short visit and only got as far as Nipawin Regional Park for the night. Another cool, wet evening.
