Tsohyootoyn Hiid, South Gobi Aimak, Mongolia
The third main sight in the region is the so-called "Iced Canyon" at Yolin Am, a spectacular narrow gorge running through a mountain range in the midst of the Gobi into which snowfall is funnelled during the winter, compacts into ice, and then remains in the shadows of the deep canyon through much of the hot summer. While not technically glaciers, the thick snowfields in the canyon did look like them during our late June visit.
